Q: Why can't I leave a comment?
A: For now, I've decided to disable all comments on this blog. Here are my reasons...
1. I want to keep this space simple. I want this space to act as a photo diary of my life. Yes, it's public but I don't want to think about how readers will "respond" to posts here. I don't want to know which posts get a lot of comments and which do not. I want this blog to maintain a true personal story and disabling comments will help me accomplish that.
2. I can't realistically commit to interacting daily on another platform. Since I blog full time at A Beautiful Mess I spend a lot of my time responding to questions and checking out my reader's blogs (not to mention interacting on twitter, instagram and via e-mail each day). It feels wrong to accept comments if I know I can't respond on a regular basis.
3. I want to be personal. After years of (occasional, but very creepy) mean-spirited comments on A Beautiful Mess I began editing out personal details and stories as a way to protect myself and my family. That's something I want to avoid here. I want to share personal photos and stories. It takes a great load off my mind to disable comments for this reason.
I really hope you understand my reasons for wanting to keep this space super simple. Who knows, I may change my mind someday. For now, I hope that you enjoy this blog for what it is... a photo journal. You can always tweet me (@elsiecake) if you have something to say or a question. LOVE YOU GUYS!
