These past few months I've spent a lot of time working on my A Beautiful Mess for ModCloth collection. It was a lot of fun to design with mostly chambray this season and I am really pleased with how the pieces turned out (in person). It was my first time to design clothing for mass production and I learned a ton. This weekend is our last big shoot for the collection. Big shoots are fun. We'll spend a 12 hour day on one minute of footage. I love that.
In a couple weeks we will be starting book #2. I don't need a ton of downtime to function, but I like to focus on (only) one large project at a time in addition to writing the blog. Writing books and designing clothes are some of the most glamorous "looking" parts of my job, but in reality they are pretty grueling sometimes. They can keep ya up at night... I'll just say that. :)
My work isn't a big part of this everyday blog, but it is a big part of my life and I love it. I hope that I'm still designing stuff and writing books when I'm Martha's age. It's a beautiful life.
