On my birthday I felt like the luckiest lady. Here are a few sweet gifts (boots from my sweet husband, a "party in a box" from Rachel, the prettiest purse from Em and a bebe monkey ornament from Katie awwwwe!) I'm thankful for good friends and a new decade of life that's just beginning.
Jeremy and I recently started a new tradition at our house! Each time a friend/couple comes over for dinner we make them a cocktail inspired by them. It's named after them too! This is the second one we've made and we decided to start documenting them here, just for fun.
Behold! The Honey Tree Cocktail. Named after our friend Jacob + Becky (aka The Honey Trees). This cocktail was easy because Jacob and Becky were our house guests for a bit so I had time to learn about their taste in cocktails. :)
Needed: Honey, Honey Whiskey, Ginger Ale and Rosemary for a garnish.
Drizzle the inside of the glass with honey.
Add 1-2 shots of whiskey, depending on your glass size and desired booziness.
Top off with gingerale and garnish with a sprig of rosemary. Done!
Hooray! We love traditions and this is going to be so much fun! We've already been scheming about namesake cocktails (and mocktails) for more of our pals. I'm pretty excited about the challenge of making something custom for each of our guests. Now, everybody... come visit! ;)
Weekends are the best best best thing ever. Wow- I didn't realize how stressed I have been lately until taking a few days off to relax and catch up. I am tackling the long overdue project of closet organization. We've lived here for a few months now and I could not find a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. It was super annoying. Now I feel like I have tons of new clothes- yay for a few days off to organize! Now, back to work for me...
Have you ever taken photos and then forgotten about them... for a few years? I'm sad to say I've done this more than once. This week I've been a little under the weather and I've been working on gathering up some wedding photo files. In the process I unearthed all kinds of forgotten photos. Unedited photos from our honeymoon (omg! how totally terrible is that?), lots of half finished abandoned project and then these special photos of my husband. I'm so happy to have found them.
If you can believe it, this is the fourth studio space he's worked in since we met. Each one has been more inspiring and special than the last. I'll print these photos out so our kids can find them in a box someday. :)
Here's a little peek at a new corner in our bedroom. I decided to start with (only) one Christmas tree this year so we used this idea to add a little Holiday light to our upstairs bedroom/living area. Trey gave us this cool old ladder and it's adding the perfect amount of sparkle to our space.
This weekend I am planning out details to make our home into a mini winter wonderland. I want to create a cozy vibe in a non-traditional color scheme. We only brought a tiny box of Holiday decor when we moved, so we're pretty much starting from scratch. Fun! I'm excited to collect ideas and make new decorations that we can use for years to come. Now, to dig out our Christmas records and get started....
