It's hard to believe that it's been a whole year since we signed papers and got the keys to this house. I sometimes think it's been the slowest year of my life because SO much has happened. Other times it feels like it has just flown by! Both for sure.
A few months into living in this space Emma and I found out that our next book would be an interior book (the topic had changed multiple times, I guess we have TOO many ideas sometimes!) We spent about eight months on that book from start to finish and it was entirely photographed in our two homes. We did 100% new photos for that book, so basically we spent most of the past year renovating, styling and DIYing our homes- many of the projects and rooms won't appear on ABM until after the book is released next summer, and most of them will not appear on ABM ever because we really wanted the book to feel exclusive and special. This may be an over share into the back end of what it's like writing a book, but I say all of this to explain how incredibly exciting it is now that the book is completed to be able to share ANYTHING from our homes at ANY TIME. It's awesome! I'm working on moving all of the book projects to storage till next summer (no spoilers!) and restyling a lot of the rooms in my home. I LOVE switching things up- it's literally one of my favorite hobbies ever.
I'm in the mood for change!! There is definitely an element of sadness to painting over some of our statement walls, especially the one in our bedroom but I love change and am ready to embrace a season of just-for-fun decorating! If there is one thing I've learned from writing books it's how much AMAZING work we can get done in a short amount of time if we do the proper amount of planning up front.
My personal goals for the coming few months are as follows.... 1. Restyle and re-imagine some of our rooms and share photos. 2. Have a big family and friends party! I'm so embarrassed that some of our friends still haven't been invited over- the shame! 3. Give Jeremy the gift of a home that is "just a home" instead of a constant photo shoot. He's been so incredibly patient and supportive of our projects and I want to thank him with a more relaxing space to come home to. ♥
Cheers to new personal goals! It's an exciting time.
