Day two was filled with more cocktails and long walks plus swimming and lots of laughter. We started talking about our year 3 marriage goals. We had the best pizza and peach caprese at Birba. We relaxed and felt really connected all day. We're also pretty in love with Palm Springs.
Jeremy and I snuck away for a quick vacation to celebrate two years of marriage. We're in Palm Springs for a long weekend. We're enjoying long walks, amazing food, the most colorful hotel ever and lots of sunshine.
We absolutely loved brunch at Cheeky's. Wowee- a flight of bacon?? That was epic and the jalapeno one was our favorite. I had a tomato sandwich that was basically life changing.
We did a little shopping in Palm Springs and Palm Desert. That was fun. We also spent most of our afternoon traveling to see Salvation Mountain together.
Cocktails at Tinto where we also had a 1 million course dinner. That was an experience. :)
We're having the best time. Today is for more relaxing, exploring, eating, swimming and photo snapping. Happy weekend!
Springtime is for new traditions. Last week Jeremy had the idea to walk over to the nearest coffee shop in the evening. It's about a 30 minute walk (there and back) and we enjoyed it so much that we took the same walk again the next night... and the next. Just like that, a new tradition was born!
We've also been enjoying a glass of something (usually scotch for him & wine for me) on the front porch every night. If it's a little chilly we bring out a blanket. It's the perfect time to talk about everything. I'm finding myself looking forward to it throughout the day.
These small routines are so meaningful for our marriage, marking a new season and providing a consistent way to unwind and feel close to each other every day. I'm a fan of routines and activities that remind us to enjoy each season. Hello Spring. We're so happy you're here.
Last spring we discovered The Dugout and we've been sorta obsessed ever since. It's pretty much a regular looking bar with a really cute little outdoor patio (hello, warm weather!) and the best onion rings and burgers ever. I probably don't have permission to tell Katie's onion ring story on the internet, but let's just say that she totally agrees... they are theee best. We usually get salads and a guilty pleasure app. And maybe, just maybe, a couple whiskey gingers as well. It's charming. One night we took Josh and Sarah there for a "real Missouri experience". It did not disappoint.
Anyway... this is one of our rotating date night spots. Just a little something I want to remember when we're real old. Incase you haven't noticed, I'm kinda really into "date nights". It's a thing. ♥
So my husband really likes Bloody Marys. We started collecting photos of each one during a few days off we had on his tour last spring. We called it "Bloody Mary Diaries". Kinda silly, but still a fun memory I want to keep. Cheers to many more bloody mary dates...♥
I confess, we are "fake tree" people. This year we ordered a 10 foot white tree (and it still hasn't arrived and I am dyyyyying!) but do I love the scent of real trees. We always had them growing up, so it's kinda a nostalgic scent. We picked up a fraser fir wreath the other day at a little parking lot stand. Now our house smells like Christmas!
Sometimes leaving town for just a bit can be so good for our relationship! We always look forward to quick trips here and there. This weekend we took a short trip to St. Louis for a little Christmas shopping...
We stayed at a hotel that was maybe a little too fancy for us and we enjoyed treats like espresso martinis and crepes for breakfast.
Check out that giant homemade marshmallow on my hot chocolate. That was pretty amazing.
We had fun shopping for gifts, met a few blog readers (hiii!) and collected a few special ornaments for our tree. It was a fun and relaxing weekend. I always love chatting on the car ride home.
I'm thankful for this guy and a chance to have extra "just us" time after a VERY busy Autumn with both our jobs. We're planning a very low key December full of quality time together. I can't believe this will be our fifth Christmas as a couple. ♥
