As soon as Jeremy and I moved into our new home, last autumn, we started a new tradition of inventing a special cocktail for each of our guests. It's been a lot of fun! This cocktail is called The Gummy-man and it's named after Todd and Laura Gummerman. It's probably our favorite one yet because Todd is really (really) into gummy candy. Ever since the first time we made it, he's been requesting it. I'm pretty sure we found his cocktail soul mate.
We wanted this drink to taste like a gummy bear. It's basically a suicide of fruity schnapps. We've used watermelon, peach, raspberry and apple. Most importantly, there is a cocktail stick with gummy candy. :)
Ridiculous? Most definitely. Delicious? Obviously.
Nothing but the best for this set of besties! Cheers.
This next cocktail is extra special! We created a signature cocktail for Rachel and Brett called "The Pink House". When I asked Rachel what flavor inspirations she had for her cocktail she said "something sparkling and cranberry". We decided to make a pretty pink cocktail inspired by all the (amazing) pink she uses in her interior designs.
This cocktail is named after my friend, Carter, who is a toy designer. I knew I wanted to do some kind of toy garnish (obvious, no?) and had the idea to freeze little army men in the bottom of each glass...
I used about 1/4 inch water in the bottom of each glass to freeze the army men in standing position in the bottom of each glass.
I had grand visions for Carter's cocktail. We tested a bunch of recipes with jalapeno and cucumber vodka. In the end, nothing was working and I was out of time so I went with a super simple gin and gingerale mix. Sometimes you gotta improvise!
We had such a fun night! We made homemade pizzas and lots of mixed drinks. The we did lots of chatting about toys, family, work, puppy love, life... you know- all the important stuff.
In case you are wondering, the army men stayed in place for like 30 minutes- totally enough time to sip a cocktail if you ask us! ;) This little tradition has been SO MUCH FUN. Jeremy and I have really enjoyed thinking up different silly cocktails for each guest we have. More soon!
Jeremy and I recently started a new tradition at our house! Each time a friend/couple comes over for dinner we make them a cocktail inspired by them. It's named after them too! This is the second one we've made and we decided to start documenting them here, just for fun.
Behold! The Honey Tree Cocktail. Named after our friend Jacob + Becky (aka The Honey Trees). This cocktail was easy because Jacob and Becky were our house guests for a bit so I had time to learn about their taste in cocktails. :)
Needed: Honey, Honey Whiskey, Ginger Ale and Rosemary for a garnish.
Drizzle the inside of the glass with honey.
Add 1-2 shots of whiskey, depending on your glass size and desired booziness.
Top off with gingerale and garnish with a sprig of rosemary. Done!
Hooray! We love traditions and this is going to be so much fun! We've already been scheming about namesake cocktails (and mocktails) for more of our pals. I'm pretty excited about the challenge of making something custom for each of our guests. Now, everybody... come visit! ;)
